I spent most of the day implementing a skeleton layout for my site. It didn’t take too long but working with the default wordpress theme was a mess. I wasted an hour trying to figure out why the top margin wouldn’t zero out but even with firebug (a great firefox add-on), I was not successful. So I dropped it and found a theme that suited my needs. It still took time manipulating but not as bad as the default theme.
I don’t know what happened but I suddenly had the urge (not sure why this has to happen at 1 in the morning) to create a new blog. I received an email from blogger a month or so ago informing me that they’re shutting down their ftp service. Since that is what I used, it’s a good reason to start over and try again.
What helps is that I found out my host had a quick and easy wordpress installer. I logged into cpanel and there was a “Fantastico” section that installs wordpress painlessly. Thank goodness for that because I forgot how to create a mySql database.
The next few days will be spent on the site and applying what I’ve learned about CSS so far (which is a lot more than what I knew a few months ago).
My website used to be my graphic design portfolio but since I have a pretty sweet job at the moment, it will be focused on photography and cooking/food.
Let’s hope this reiteration of my blog fares better than my previous attempts.
